Abstract
Systems of multiple thin films, either conducting or dielectric, have recently found applications in Optics for various purposes, in particular for making radiation filters of more or less narrow band widths. Several papers have been published on the procedure of calculating the radiation transmitted or reflected by any system of thin and parallel films. The resulting formulae are generally rather complicated. In the present contribution, formulae are developed which lead to expressions of very simple structure and which can easily be applied to the case of continuously variable média.
